PhD

David completed his PhD at the University of Western Australia in 2014. Entitled A comparative study of the Swedish and Australian timber construction sectors leading to the development of a prefabricated parallel laminated timber wall system, his thesis explored Australia’s potential to continue expanding its engineered timber and modern off-site construction industry through a comparative discussion of the Swedish and Australian timber-based building sectors and their related industries. A new prefabricated engineered laminated timber structural wall system, using readily available skills, equipment and materials, and its application to a theoretical three storey residential building is introduced as a case study. David's research was supported by Forest and Wood Products Australia (FWPA) via a post graduate scholarship and you can download his PhD here.
